The Lamanai Ruins is situated in a nine hundred acre jungle preserve, this ancient Mayan city has been partially restored to its former state, so that you can experience what it is like to walk amongst structures designed and built thousands of years ago. Unlike most Mayan Ruins, the jungle here has been left intact, and the nature trails leading from one structure to the next are worth the trip alone. There is a museum displaying ancient artifacts, and gift shops selling local crafts and souvenirs.

The New River Lagoon is full of fish. Bring your own gear or charter a boat and guide, and with a little luck you will be having catch of the day for dinner.

With a canoe, you can easily cross the lagoon and explore a creek that is only accessible by water. You can glide up on the water birds so close that you can almost touch them before they take flight.

How about a nice swim? Our pool is 28 miles long, 100 ft. deep and a mile wide. It is solar heated an crystal clear.

Find a hammock, read a book, take a nap, and enjoy the peace and quiet. Explore the lagoon on a charted boat ride. Make your way up Irish Creek, dripping with plants that have found a home in the canopy. Birds abound along the creek which borders the Programme for Belize on one side, and a privately owned preserve on the other. Visit the Hillbank Agricultural Station located at the south end of the lagoon where botanists are studying ways to support agriculture and tourism which are compatible with rainforest preservation.
